Definition
What is Lot?
A lot is the standard unit of position size; in forex one standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency.
Lot sizes are usually expressed with decimals: 1.00 is a standard lot, 0.10 a mini lot and 0.01 a micro lot.
On EURUSD, one standard lot moves about $10 per pip, a mini lot about $1 and a micro lot about $0.10. Gold, indices and crypto have their own contract sizes.
The right lot size comes from your risk per trade and your stop distance, never from a fixed habit.
Example
Risking $500 with a 25-pip stop on EURUSD: $500 ÷ (25 × $10) = 2.00 lots.
