What is Pip?
A pip is the standard unit of price change in forex: 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for pairs quoted in Japanese yen.
Prices move in pips. If EURUSD goes from 1.0800 to 1.0825, it has moved 25 pips.
Many platforms show an extra decimal, the pipette, worth one tenth of a pip.
The value of a pip depends on the pair and the lot size. Knowing it is what lets you turn a stop loss in pips into a risk in dollars.
Example
One standard lot of EURUSD: about $10 per pip. A 30-pip stop risks about $300.
