Good traders spend far more time waiting than trading. The problem is that waiting feels unproductive, so traders fill it with mediocre trades. Patience becomes easier when waiting is part of the system, not a test of willpower.
Make waiting structured
- Use alerts at your levels instead of watching every candle.
- Have a checklist: trend, level, confirmation, risk-reward of at least 1.5. All four or no trade.
- Score setups: A (all criteria), B (one missing). Only trade A during a challenge.
What to do while waiting
- Review past trades of the same setup.
- Update your levels on the higher timeframes.
- Step away from the screen; the alert will call you back.
