How it is calculated
Take your best single day of realized profit and divide it by your total profit. On a $100K 2-Step phase 1, the target is $10,000. If your best day made $6,000, that day is 60% of the total — above 50%, so the phase is not passed yet.
You do not lose the account. You simply keep trading: once total profit reaches $12,000 with the same $6,000 best day, the best day is exactly 50% and the phase passes.
How to pass with the consistency rule
The rule rewards the habits that also protect you from the loss limits:
- Use the same risk per trade every day.
- Set a daily profit cap — for example 3% — and stop when you reach it.
- Spread the target over at least 5 trading days.
- Before the last trades, check your best day against total profit in the dashboard objectives.
Why prop firms use it
A trader who makes the whole target in one oversized trade has shown luck, not skill. The consistency rule filters that out so funded accounts go to traders with a repeatable edge — which is also what keeps them funded.
