The 4 rules of a funded trader
Write these on a sticky note next to your screen:
- Risk the same small percentage on every trade: 0.25–1%.
- Stop trading for the day at -2% or after 3 losses in a row.
- Calculate lot size from the stop distance before entering.
- Never move a stop loss further away.
Why 0.5% works
At 0.5% per trade you can lose 8 trades in a row and still be inside a 4% daily limit — and 16 in a row before an 8% maximum loss. With a 1:2 reward-to-risk ratio, a 45% win rate is enough to grow the account steadily.
Rules that also limit risk on paid accounts
On paid accounts you can hold up to 5 positions at a time, and new orders on affected instruments are blocked from 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after high-impact news (closing positions stays allowed). Plan around the economic calendar so you are never caught holding through a release.
