9 prop firm myths (and what is actually true)

'Prop firms want you to fail', 'you need to trade every day', 'funded means real money'... The most common myths about prop trading, answered plainly.

By the Axora Funded Research Team

Prop trading attracts strong opinions. Some are fair, many are myths. Here are the most common ones, answered as plainly as we can.

1. 'Funded accounts trade real money'

At Axora, as at most modern prop firms, all accounts are demo accounts with virtual funds in a simulated environment. Payouts to traders are real and are paid from the firm's own revenue.

2. 'Prop firms want you to fail'

Evaluation fees are revenue, but so are long-term relationships: traders who get paid buy more accounts and recommend the firm. A sustainable firm needs successful traders.

3. 'You need to trade every day'

Only a minimum number of trading days is required (for example 5 per phase on the 2-Step). You choose which days.

4. 'You need a huge win rate'

Many profitable traders win 40–50% of trades. Risk-reward and position size matter more.

5. 'Bigger accounts are harder'

The rules are percentages, so a $200K account is exactly as hard as a $10K one. Only the emotions differ.

6. 'You can pass by gambling once'

Consistency rules exist precisely to prevent one-day gambles. At Axora, the best day may not exceed 50% of total profit to pass.

7. 'Crypto payouts are not real'

Crypto payouts are verifiable on the blockchain. Every Axora payout comes with a transaction link.

8. 'You need MetaTrader'

Many firms now use their own web platforms. Axora runs in the browser with TradingView-style charts.

9. 'Failing means you are a bad trader'

Most failures come from rule breaks under pressure, not from a lack of skill. A rule-based plan and smaller size fix most of them.
