How the ETHUSD lot size is calculated
Position size = risk in dollars ÷ (stop distance × value per unit). On ETHUSD, one point ($1) is worth $1.00 per standard lot, so a $55 stop costs $55.00 per lot. $1,000 ÷ $55.00 = 18.18 lots (rounded down to the 0.01 step).
Spread add a little to the real cost of each trade, so many traders round down further. Calculated at the current ETHUSD price of 2,364.07.
The $100K rules in ETHUSD price moves
Rules are set in dollars, but you watch the ETHUSD chart. This is how far price can move against a 18.18-lot position before each limit is reached:
- Classic: target $10,000 ($550.06) + $5,000 ($275.03), daily loss $4,000 ($220.02), max loss $8,000 ($440.04), all with 18.18 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 4 losing trades in a single day to hit the Classic daily limit.
- 1-Step: target $10,000 ($550.06), daily loss $3,000 ($165.02), max loss $6,000 trailing ($330.03), all with 18.18 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 3 losing trades in a single day to hit the 1-Step daily limit.
- Ascent: target $5,000 ($275.03) + $5,000 ($275.03) + $5,000 ($275.03), daily loss $3,000 ($165.02), max loss $6,000 ($330.03), all with 18.18 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 3 losing trades in a single day to hit the Ascent daily limit.
- Spark: target $8,000 ($440.04), daily loss $2,000 ($110.01), max loss $4,000 ($220.02), all with 18.18 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 2 losing trades in a single day to hit the Spark daily limit.
Maximum ETHUSD position size on $100K
With 1:5 leverage one lot needs about $473 of margin, so a $100K account could open about 20 lots in total. That is a margin ceiling, not a target: the daily loss limit is the real constraint.
When ETHUSD moves most
Follows Bitcoin’s rhythm, with extra moves around network upgrades and ETF news. Size down around those moments: wider swings mean a wider stop, and a wider stop with the same risk means fewer lots.
