How the NAS100 lot size is calculated
Position size = risk in dollars ÷ (stop distance × value per unit). On NAS100, one point ($1) is worth $1.00 per standard lot, so a 60 points stop costs $60.00 per lot. $2,000 ÷ $60.00 = 33.3 lots (rounded down to the 0.1 step).
Spread add a little to the real cost of each trade, so many traders round down further. Calculated at the current NAS100 price of 29,211.95.
The $200K rules in NAS100 price moves
Rules are set in dollars, but you watch the NAS100 chart. This is how far price can move against a 33.3-lot position before each limit is reached:
- Classic: target $20,000 (600.6 points) + $10,000 (300.3 points), daily loss $8,000 (240.24 points), max loss $16,000 (480.48 points), all with 33.3 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 4 losing trades in a single day to hit the Classic daily limit.
- 1-Step: target $20,000 (600.6 points), daily loss $6,000 (180.18 points), max loss $12,000 trailing (360.36 points), all with 33.3 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 3 losing trades in a single day to hit the 1-Step daily limit.
- Ascent: target $10,000 (300.3 points) + $10,000 (300.3 points) + $10,000 (300.3 points), daily loss $6,000 (180.18 points), max loss $12,000 (360.36 points), all with 33.3 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 3 losing trades in a single day to hit the Ascent daily limit.
- Spark: target $16,000 (480.48 points), daily loss $4,000 (120.12 points), max loss $8,000 (240.24 points), all with 33.3 lots.
- At 1% risk per trade it takes 2 losing trades in a single day to hit the Spark daily limit.
Maximum NAS100 position size on $200K
With 1:20 leverage one lot needs about $1,461 of margin, so a $200K account could open about 100 lots in total. That is a margin ceiling, not a target: the daily loss limit is the real constraint.
When NAS100 moves most
Most of the range happens at the New York open; big-tech earnings, CPI and FOMC create the largest moves. Size down around those moments: wider swings mean a wider stop, and a wider stop with the same risk means fewer lots.
